An 'archive’ is a collection of documents.
Archives are preserved because of their enduring value to society & to the people & organisations that produce them. Archives may be the personal pages of an individual or the pages of a public body such as Local Government or the pages of another institution such as a business, society or religious organisation.
Archived documents may include photographs, audio, video, maps, books, electronic data, and digital multi-media.
An archive is unique & it is preserved for present and future generations to use.
A 'dusty' archive is a collection of documents whose use is infrequent!
